7/7/2016 Version 13.2 About the Author 2017 WRX & WRX STI by Neil M. Szigethy 7/7/2016 Version 13.2 Customize with Performance and Technology “The total package.” That’s how you describe something when all the ideal elements come together to make it perfect. But as drivers can – and do – differ when it comes to defining that elusive magic formula, Subaru thoughtfully offers you a choice of finishing touches. If you thought the WRX and WRX STI were the total package before, get ready to expand your definition of the term. Power-Packed The WRX Sport Package combines several enthusiast-oriented accessories into one high-value package. Announce your presence with an STI Performance Exhaust System and inject a little more authority into the already thrilling roar of the WRX. Further improve handling and steering precision with black-finish, 15-spoke STI alloy wheels. These tough-but-lightweight 17-inch and 18-inch wheels make the suspension more responsive to each curve and add to the vehicle’s muscular profile. Throw in an STI short-throw shifter for crisper gear changes and quicker acceleration, topped off with an STI leather-wrapped shift knob to help you get a handle on all that extra excitement. Subaru WRX 17-inch alloy wheels STI short-throw shifter Watch Your Back Automatically The newest Subaru technology, Reverse Automatic Braking,1 is available on 2017 WRX Limited CVT models. It uses sonar sensors and the anti-lock braking system to bring WRX to a stop if it comes too close to an object behind you while backing up. Working at low speed, Reverse Automatic Braking will sound a series of beeps and show a warning on the multi-function display when it detects an object, increasing the frequency of beeps as the WRX gets closer to the object. If you don’t take the hints, the system activates the brakes to prevent collision. Get Connected SUBARU STARLINK Safety and Security Connected Services,2 with a long list of safety and convenience features, is available on 2017 WRX Limited and Premium and all WRX STI models. Enroll in either the SAFETY PLUS or SAFETY & SECURITY PLUS packages and take advantage of services like diagnostic alerts, automatic collision notification, remote vehicle locator, and remote lock/unlock capability. And a free MySubaru app for iOS- and Android-compatible phones lets you do it all remotely if you wish. A Sound Vision Another must-have feature available on 2017 models is Siri3 Eyes Free, allowing you to use voice commands through the vehicle’s in-dash system. And here’s a nice upgrade: in addition to the four-month free trial to SiriusXM All Access Package, 2017 vehicles equipped with navigation now have three years of SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link, plus free annual map updates for three years. That’s a Wrap So whether you’re powering through a curve, reversing in a crowded parking garage, or just wondering whether you remembered to lock your car, the 2017 WRX and WRX STI have everything you need to create your custom ride. 1 Reverse Automatic Braking is a system designed to assist the driver by detecting objects to help avoid a possible collision when the vehicle is moving in a reverse direction. It is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness depends on many factors such as vehicle maintenance, weather and road conditions. Always exercise caution and use vehicle mirrors and Rear-Vision Camera when backing up. See Owner’s Manual for complete details on system operation and limitations. 2 Activation and required subscription sold separately. Includes one-year trial subscription. See your retailer for details. 3 Siri is a registered trademark of Apple Inc.
