The Special Edition 2017 BRZ Lights Up the Road

Subaru loyalists waste little time scooping up special-edition vehicles, and with just 500 of the BRZ Series.Yellow cars available nationwide, they are set to disappear blazingly fast. Based off the 2017 BRZ Limited, the Series.Yellow is unlikely to be mistaken for another sports car. With its exclusive Bright Yellow exterior accented by black-finish alloy wheels, black badging and foldable black mirrors, the Series.Yellow looks capable of slinging some real heat.

Well before the striking yellow paint was applied, however, we infused the 2017 BRZ with bolder styling, more power and greater agility.

A 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER engine raises horsepower from 200 to 205 in the Subaru BRZ.
The BRZ Series.Yellow includes bold accents such as black badges and a pedestal-type aluminum rear spoiler.

High Style

A new front fascia and grille in tandem with new LED headlights, daytime running lights and taillights give the 2017 BRZ a sleeker look and distinctive lighting signature.

The new pedestal-type aluminum rear spoiler, meanwhile, accentuates the athletic styling while increasing downforce and improving stability and control.

The yellow theme is also expressed in the interior, with seats, positioned for ideal sports car driving, upholstered in black leather and Alcantara and accented by yellow bolsters. Yellow stitching adorns much of the cabin, including the door and dash panels, steering wheel, shifter boot and carpeted floor mats. Front seatbacks are embroidered with a signature yellow BRZ logo and floor mats with a silver BRZ logo.

Road Ready

Beneath the aluminum hood, substantial changes abound. In BRZ models with the 6-speed manual transmission, including the Series.Yelllow, a long list of advancements in the 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER engine raises horsepower from 200 to 205. Peak torque increases to 156 lb-ft, from 151 lb-ft, and, just as important, there’s more torque at lower engine speeds. We also lowered the final-drive ratio in the Torsen®1 limited-slip differential to 4.30:1, from 4.10:1, to boost acceleration.

The BRZ chassis has also improved, with new structural reinforcements, new spring and damper rates, and a thicker rear stabilizer bar. With Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) now programmed for higher system thresholds, the driver-selectable Sport mode has evolved into the appropriately named Track mode.

Notably, the BRZ Series.Yellow includes the new Performance Package. This track-tuned upgrade features 17-inch x 7.5-inch black-finish alloy wheels, SACHS® Performance shock absorbers and a Brembo braking system with larger rotors and four-piston calipers in front and dual-piston calipers in the rear. Curves don’t stand a chance. The BRZ Series.Yellow may fly low, but with its enhanced performance and striking looks, it isn’t going to fly under the radar.
